Emery- Six Months

Happy Six Months little Squish! Six months is always a fun milestone. Baby gets to eat solid food and you are on to the fun, silly baby stage. Sophie was super thrilled to help Emery eat her first food (squash) and Emery was a big fan. Since then she has been a lover of all foods and has tried:

bananas, avocados, sweet potatoes, mangoes, peas, green beans, peaches, pears, raspberries, prunes, a french fry, muffins, puffs, Ritz crackers, raspberry popsicles--just to name a few. 

She enthusiastically grabs any and all food near her and makes it impossible for anyone holding her to eat. 

At six months she was getting really close to sitting up and finally rolled over both ways, but mostly rolled from back to tummy. 

Per the usual with this tan baby, we get great comments on her skin such as

~a lady at church thought she was adopted

~I've been asked twice what the ethnicity of the baby's father is. Answer: white. He is just white.

Our Summer Stay-Cation

 At the end of July we got to watch Erin's girls while she, Jason, and Austin were off on a business retreat. Basically we spent that week doing all sorts of crazy fun things to keep us all busy and happy. We did a trip up to the splash pad in Rexburg, which was so much harder having a little baby in tow, but thankfully my brother came to help out and play. I had a little insight into Sophie's personality while we were there though. After just ten-fifteen minutes of play she wanted to go home. She refused to go down the slide or climb on the play structure at all because it soaks you pretty good on the stairway up. Spencer thought if he could convince her to slide down a dry slide at the nearby playground she would do it, but she wouldn't do that either. It took me prying her death-grip fingers from my body and forcing her down the side of the slide, then moving to walking with her to the top of the slide and sliding with me, to me forcibly pushing her down the slide...after all that she couldn't be stopped. She ran up and down that slide dozens of time. It was hilarious. It looks like we are going to have to constantly push this girl out of her comfort zone to get her to enjoy new experiences.

My next not-so-bright idea was a campout in our backyard. I thought it would be super fun since we have the fire pit and everything to spend a fun night faux camping. That night was a bit of a disaster as far as getting any sleep. I slept inside with Emery, but eventually we hauled everyone inside. Hannah ended up in bed with me and still awake after midnight. Kira slept on Sophie's floor and Bella begrudgingly slept on the couch. She was definitely the most upset we had to bring everyone in, but hopefully she'll forgive me. We still had lots of fun roasting hot dogs and s'mores. The girls loved playing in and around the tent in the backyard and we had a delicious pancake breakfast.

Daniel took all the girls bowling with grandpa one afternoon. Sophie LOVED it. She hadn't been bowling in over a year and she was such a pain that time. She proudly bowed after each turn and was apparently hilarious to watch. We've since gone bowling again and she is quite the entertainer.

Then one night grandpa had box seats for the Chukars. We gorged ourselves on junk food and the girls all made it on the big screen at the game. It was fun get at least one baseball game in this year, even though Emery is at a terrible age for being out even that late(early).

It's always a fun adventure watching all those kiddos. We squeeze a lot of crazy fun into each day and hopefully make some fun memories for these little cousins.
